Being assigned to Rescue is a lot like being a cab driver—except your passengers don’t tip, the meter never stops, and every ride ends at the ER. This old Rescue unit has officially reached the sweatpants-and-couch stage of its career. It may not be pretty, it desperately needs a bath, and it definitely isn’t trying to impress anybody—but it’s comfortable, dependable, and still shows up when called. Because in the Rescue division, looking good is optional. Getting through the shift is the goal. Driver carries no cash. No judgment, either.
